BALI DRAG CABARET SHOW REVISITED

The Indonesian Drag Cabaret Show is world renowned for its Drag Cabaret shows in the popular tourist area of Legian.
Not to be confused with the original business (Hulu Cafe) which was sadly leveled in a blaze in August 2008, fortunately the Aussie owners of nearby restaurant "The Bali Beach Shack" came to the rescue and an arrangement was negotiated to keep this popular tourist attraction alive.
I had the pleasure of taking a 20 plus group back there for a bucks & does nite in September. Our young bride to be had her dear old gran with her (a sprite 82 year old) who absolutely loved the show, "its the best fun I've had in years" she was heard saying skipping out the door after midnight, although I think the Tia Maria "milkshakes" that the young ones kept up to her helped the old dear along as well....ssshhhh, as they say, what happens in Bali stays in Bali...!

The Bali Beach Shack Restaurant is very popular in its own right as a no frills restaurant/bar on the “Garlic Lane” strip which is only 50 meters from Padma Street and close to all the main hotels, restaurants and shops in Legian and nearby Kuta and Seminyak. It’s popularity is due to the fun entertainment, excellent service and relaxed friendly atmosphere. The food menu is a mix of Western European, Indonesian and Asian cuisine, with large portion size and moderately priced. There is also an "all you can eat" Aussie Roast Dinner on Sunday nights that packs the guests in and is hosted by resident DJ Patrick who plays a mix of music video clips from the 60's, 70's and 80's.
The Drag Cabaret shows are free and the drinks are very reasonably priced. The drag shows draw mixed crowds of gay, straight and family groups of locals, ex-pats and of course tourists from all over the world. The Drag Cabaret shows are on Wednesday thru Saturday nights when there are two shows with times commencing at 9:30pm and again at 10.30pm. Also due to popular demand, there is another show added on Sunday nights starting at 9:30pm following the Sunday Roast.

It is advisable to book a reserved table particularly if dining on the busy Drag Show nights. The bar is open until around 12.30 – 1am and as mentioned the Drag Cabaret also caters for tour groups. Any celebration can be catered for including birthdays, bucks and does parties etc.... There is a regular support band prior to the start of the cabaret with the boys playing a great mix of golden oldies and modern popular songs mixed in with a splash of comedy.
Other entertainment at Bali Beach Shack includes Baby Balinese Dancers on Tuesdays at 7pm featuring kids from a local school in Legian. They are aged between 4 and 11 years and have been coming to BBS for more than 5 years to gain performance experience.
So with all this free entertainment it's little wonder why the Bali Beach Shack has picked up 3 consecutive Certificate Of Excellence Awards from TripAdvisor (2011-2013).
All I know is that we'll be back for sure, a Highly Recommended Fun Night Out In Bali for all ages.
