The Indonesian Minister for State Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Rini Soemarno, met with Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika on Friday, February 20, 2015 during a visit by the Minister to the Island.
During the visit, Governor Pastika offered his ideas for the construction of a toll way between Kuta and Pekutatan. The proposed road would connect Kuta – Canggu – Soka – Pekutatan.
As reported by Beritabali.com, the plan discussed by the Minister and Governor Pastika was for a toll road similar to the Bali Mandara Toll Way operated on a consortium organized under BUMN.
In the same meeting, Pastika also touched upon his desire to a railroad system to circle the shores of Bali. This plan was discussed with the current Minister of Transportation, Ignasius Jonan, when he still served at the CEO of the Indonesian Railroad System (PT Kereta Api Indonesia).
The plan for the Bali Rail System was previously set forth in a Memorandum of Understanding between PT Kereta Api Indonesia, the Ministry of Transportation and the Tourism Ministry.
Pastika said he hoped the visit of the Minister for BUMN would accelerate the realization of the toll way and railroad project for Bali.
