Eccentric British comedian-cum-activist has pleaded for the English Premier League football club, Liverpool, to boycott its sponsor, Garuda Indonesia in support for Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan.
On his YouTube page, Brand uploaded a video showing his support for the duo and asked for his followers “find the compassion” in their hearts to petition to the football club. “Please let Liverpool FC know that you do not support the execution in Indonesia of men that are clearly rehabilitated,” said Brand. “You’d like Liverpool FC to question their relationship with a national airline,” he added.
Previously this week, Brand, like many other celebrities, publicly supported the Mercy campaign in the hopes that the pair’s execution sentence is overruled. The tweet read, “These Aussie blokes are going to be killed soon for a bit of daft drug smuggling (they’ve done 10 years already) HELP! info.mercycampaign.org/watch/.”
