DENPASAR ESTABLISHES NEW DRUG TASK FORCE

Police in Denpasar established a new drugs task force called Aksi Benar (True Action), netting 11 suspects in the first week of operation.
Addressing the drug problem in Bali has become a priority for local police. In the last twelve months police have arrested 237 suspects, including 137 users, 78 dealers, 21 smugglers and four manufacturers.
The net worth of the drugs confiscated is estimated at almost Rp15 billion.
Head of Narcotics in Denpasar reported that in the first week of operation, police busted a methamphetamine ring operating out of a boarding house in Padang Galak. Information supplied by the public lead the task force to the boarding house where they arrested four men in a “party room”.
The bust then lead them to seven other men who were arrested in possession of methamphetamine and ecstasy.
