Q: Isn’t My Bali Guide just another Bali forum ?
A: Absolutely not. My Bali Guide doesn’t contain a forum, there is a Members Chat Board where members if they wish can leave short stories of their Bali travels and experiences for other members to read but we will not encourage this site to become another “forum” on Bali there is enough out there already. We recognise the (BTF) Bali Travel Forum as our preferred Bali "forum" and encourage our members to use the BTF site by providing a direct link to the BTF from this site. Unlike the BTF, My Bali Guide is designed to allow members to post their favourite Bali photos, stories or JBR’s (Just Back Reports) allowing others to read about and to share their experiences and travels around the "Isle of Smiles".
Q: What's the purpose of My Bali Guide?
A: We maintain this site to help fellow travellers planning to visit the island of Bali to get some understanding of the destination and to get an initial "feel" for the island from the experience of others that post information on this site including information about where to stay, what to see and do, where to eat, where and how to do their shopping, how to get around, and to be aware of the various "do's" and "don'ts" when visiting the island.
Q: How can I contact My Bali Guide's Site Administrator ?
A: It's as simple as clicking on this link to send us an email. We will normally respond to your email within 24 hours.
Q: What kind of questions can I ask, or what information can I post?
A:Please feel free to ask any kind of question, and share any experience you might have had – as long as the message relates to travelling to and within Bali (or Lombok). All messages, photos, JBR’s etc…are monitored and will be deleted if the subject matter is irrelevant to this website or is deemed to be offensive. Members are encouraged to contact the sites admin to report any offensive or irrelevant post.
Q: Can I use this site to advertise or promote a shop, restaurant, hotel, or any products?
A: No you cannot, unsolicited advertising is prohibited on this site. But if for example, a member asks for recommendations for a hotel or restaurant in a certain area then feel free to post information about your favourite hotel, restaurant etc…but any post deemed to be an unsolicited advertisement will be deleted. This site is not for commercial use other than by our sponsors that enable us to maintain the upkeep of this site and should be used by members only for the storage of information about Bali that they are willing to share with others travelling to and within Bali.
Q: Can I use this site to promote, announce, or publicize my private website or photo-page, it contains nice Bali photos and I want to show them to members and readers of My Bali Guide?
A: No, you cannot. Please use e-mail for this between members. Advertisements, self promotion, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and unrequested solicitations are inappropriate on "My Bali Guide".
Q: I registered, but didn't get my activation code!
A: Secondary email accounts like Hotmail, Yahoo etc…classifies all emails coming from un-known domains like mybaliguide.com as spam. Therefore activation codes end up in the junk mail folder or trash bin automatically. If you are using a secondary email account, please check your trash bin for your activation code before asking the Site Admin for assistance.
Q: Can I use the, members message page for personal or private messages?
A: Please don't. Private messages as well as the infamous "xx sleeps to go" messages just use up valuable diskspace and bandwidth and make it difficult to get decent results from the sites search engine.
Q: I like to post under various aliases. Can I have more than one user name?
A: No. One person should only have one user name. Detected multiple aliases will be deleted and you rish being banned from the site.
Q: Which language shall I use to post messages?
A: The official language on this site is English. English is a "common denominator", and we don't allow other languages here. If you understand enough English to read the messages on the site, you are able to post in English, too. Don't be shy, as long as other participants can understand what you're trying to say, nobody will mind your grammar or your spelling
Q: Use of copyright material: I object to material re-posted or copied from my website or blog, what can I do about it ?
A: We are a non-profit information site designed to help Bali travellers. Occasionally when we are about to write an article we find that someone else has already covered the subject matter, so as to not duplicate what others have already done we will either re-post or link to that material. In all cases where we re-post or use any content whether in whole or in part from another website or blog we will always credit the original source. If you prefer that your published material or links not be used simply contact us and we will delete it.
Q: Is this site moderated or censored?
A: No, it is not. We remove only duplicates, advertisements, and offensive or outright stupid messages.
Q: Does mybaliguide.com / or the site owner support the opinions expressed on the site by it’s members?
A: No, of course not. As the site is not moderated MyBaliGuide.com doesn't verify or support any opinions expressed by participants.
Q: I have a technical question concerning this site. Shall I post this question here?
A: No, please don't. Instead please e-mail the Site Administrator (SA), and we will answer your question directly by e-mail.
Q: I feel offended by a post. Shall I give this poster a stiff talk to get him back on track?
A: Please don't. This will start a flame war and we want to avoid this. If something offends you please contact us HERE.
Q: I think a message breaks one or more of the site rules. Can I give a poster a reprimand to get them back on track?
A: No, please don't play site cop. If you feel that action should be taken please contact the Site Administrator.
Q: How do I get the e-mail address of a participant?
A: Participants have the option of providing their e-mail address to be seen when they join and can change this setting at will at anytime. If you want to contact someone urgently leave them a message. If they do not contact you please contact us and we will email them to get their permission to give you their email address
Q: How do I search the site?
A: There is a Search Button at the bottom of the Main Menu on your left, here you can type your keyword for your search. This will search the website for your requested information.
Q: When I try to post a message I get a message back saying that I am not allowed to post to the site. Why is this?
A: Basicly there are only three reasons that prevent you from posting to this site.
1. You use a word or words that are considered unsuitable for this site.
2. You use a word or words often used by spammers or advertisers.
3. You are trying to post using a banned ISP address.
Q: How can I change my password ?
A: To change your password on MyBaliGuide, after you login go to the "Members Only" menu on the lower right and click on "My Profile" then click on "Edit Profile" then delete all the dots in the "Password" and "Confirm Password" areas then re-type whatever password you want to use in both areas then at the bottom left of the page click "Submit Changes", however if you have any further problems please contact us.
Q: Is there anything else that I should be aware of that is conditional on me maintaining my membership with this site ?
A: Considering the real-time nature of "My Bali Guide", it is impossible for us to review every message or confirm the validity of information before or after it is posted therefore :
